Trust finally secures ownership
After a long and what seemed like a never ending battle. The Kiveton Park & Wales Community Development Trust are delighted to announce that they have now finally taken ownership of the Old Colliery Offices.
When the colliery closed in 1994 ownership of the building was transferred from the National Coal Board to the then regional development agency Yorkshire Forward. Since then The Trust have been managing the building and at the same time negotiating with Yorkshire Forward to take ownership of the building for the community.

Volunteer of the year 2011
Once again Kiveton Park & Wales has reason to be proud as we are delighted to announce that Arthur Whiteway of Queens Avenue Wales, has been voted Rotherham Community Awards volunteer of the year. Receiving his award at a gala evening held at the Carlton Park hotel Rotherham in November.
Arthur attended the evening with his wife Peggy and daughter Ann along with Steph Hyrschko of the Kiveton Park & Wales Community Development Trust. Steph said “We all had our fingers crossed and waited with baited breath for the result and when Arthurs name was read out as the winner we were all over the moon” Arthur really deserves this award. He has been an active resident of Kiveton Park all his life. Over the last few years his volunteering has been focused mainly around the Old Colliery Offices. But what is most remarkable about Arthur is that he is 84 years old and is a true example and inspiration to us all.
Arthur was unaware that he had been nominated until he received a letter from Voluntary Action Rotherham saying that he had made the final three. Arthur said it was a real surprise to find someone had nominated me and even more of a surprise to go on and win it.
