This is a new social, peer-support group for people experiencing mental health problems, and between the ages of  25 and 55 – that ‘middle ground’ where you are too old for young people’s activities but not ready for lunch groups with older people.  The agenda is set by those who attend, so we are planning a range of activities from games, walks, and outings but are open to suggestions. You don’t have to feel alone, come along and chat with a cuppa and make new friends.  Only £3 per week, with funds helping to subsidise group activities/trips.

Thursdays 1-3pm, at The Old Colliery Offices, Colliery Road, Kiveton Park.

The weather stayed fine, dry and at times very sunny as hundreds turned out on Sunday 25th June for the Pit-Nic on Kiveton Woodland.

There was live music from Woodhouse Brass band, Acoustica, The four players Barber shop quartet, The Big Stuffed Fish Ceilidh band and a performance from Wales Panto Players. There were traditional games, children’s activities and heritage displays from the Kiveton & Wales History Society and the Chesterfield Canal Society. People came in their hundreds with their blankets, chairs and baskets and cool boxes full of goodies, for what was a wonderful outdoor community event. There was also hot and cold food and drink available courtesy of Honey bee’s tea rooms and Traditionals Fine foods of Kiveton.

The Pit-Nic was held to Mark 150 years since reaching the coal seem at Kiveton Colliery and 240 since the opening of the Canal through Kiveton.
