Rotherharn Metropolitan Borough Council are responsiblefor keeping recordsand for keeping the Rights of Way in good order and accessible. Wales Parish Council are custodians for all Rightsof Way in their Parish and will work with RMBC Rights of Way Officers to oversee these duties.

RIGHTS OF WAY
The network of public Rights of Way are recorded on a definitive map dedicated to each area.

DEFINITIVE MAP
The definitive map for Wales Parish is recorded in the Ordnance Survey Map No SK 48 SE. TheRights of Way on this map were last relevant dated 22 September 1952 and is due to be updated in the near future.
All rights of way have a number to determine where the path is going to and from In our Parish someof the footpaths on the Parish Boundaries change numbers. This is because all Parishes surrounding Wales completed their surveys independently of other Parishes and recorded paths with their own numbers.
RMBC Footpaths section is producing small maps called"Doorstep Walks"to highlight the areas. Doorstep Walks No 4 and No 5 cover Rother Valley Country Park and others are being
planned to cover all our area.

The Footpaths in the Colliery area will not be the responsibility of RMBC except for Footpath 12, the Cuckoo Way and Footpath14 which crosses the site. The others will be managed by the agency nominated to take overthe site after completion.
